A quick walk on Treath Penllech.

We've had some lovely, sunny weather over the last week here in Llangwnnadl.

Gary and I took the opportunity to take a walk with friends on our local beach at Treath Penllech (also known as Penllech beach).

It's a beautiful sandy beach that stretches for over a mile at low tide. There's some rockpools at either end and sloping, grass covered cliffs at the back of the beach, with some interesting rock formations. It's great for little ocean explorers (or even retired ones like us!) with supervision.

It was lovely to see the beach busy and everyone enjoying the sun - we're looking forward to a bustling summer and beach picnics.

There can be good surf at Penllech on the right conditions, but the waves were gentle when we were there.

The sea can sometimes be a bit rough for swimming, with signs noting strong currents, and there's no lifeguard. However, there's a small cafe, a free car park and it's dog friendly.

We'd recommend it as a nice beach for kayaking, canoeing, diving, snorkelling, kite surfing, sailing, rock pooling, surfing, water skiing and wind surfing. It's also be great for fishing and worming, too - though Gary's not had much luck so far!

About halfway along the beach is small waterfall where the stream of the Afon Fawr has cut a gorge into the cliffs behind.

It's also been nice to see the wild life enjoying the quieter side of the beach, though we're still trying to spot some seals and puffins.
